[When Luna wakes up in Luceti, her reaction isn’t that different from most. She’s not supposed to be here, she knows that. She’s never seen any place like it, either, especially with what’s in front of her: the ocean. It doesn’t take her long to notice her wings, either. Those are out of place on so many levels that it almost causes her to faint, but she perseveres. She knows that panicking won’t get her anywhere, that logically she’s somewhere which means there are probably others nearby...she can’t be the only one here.

Eventually, while taking in her surroundings, she notices the journal. It has her name on it, so she assumes at first they’re instructions of some kind, or a message telling her what’s going on. The last thing she expected it to be was a communication device, so it’s not long before she’s trying to get the journal to play a message back to her. Instead of playing another entry, though, she accidentally turns it on.]

O-oh! This thing is on already? I see...it's very easy to use, isn't it? I've never seen anything like it before...it's very advanced. I imagine something like this can be useful in so many ways. Um...it also means that I'm not the only one here, right? I haven't had much of a chance to look around, but if anyone can hear this... I mean, my name is Luna, and...and...

[She pauses, and she looks away from the camera.]

This is an ocean, right? I've never seen one in person before...it's beautiful.

[It's a while before she looks back down at the journal again. So long, in fact, that a minute passes and the journal stops recording.]

That sounds horrible. Pollution that strong...it must be really hard on everyone. There's no fish or...or anything, then?

[She actually looks genuinely distressed over this, and she is. It sounds so horrible.]

Nope. I don't think there are even any plants in the water. It's been like that for a long time, though. Since before I was born.

Not even plants...? Was it really pollution that did all of that, or...or was there something else?

I'm not really sure. I mean, apparently, there was a meteor and then a war, so it probably had something to do with that, too.

A meteor...and a war? I don't remember [hearing] anything about that. What are you trying to say? Is this a...[different timeline?]

[WHOOPS he forgot the part where she was new. He is so very good at this.]

O-oh, that's okay! It probably just means we're from different worlds. ...I know that sounds weird, but it's true.

Different...worlds? [She folds her hands in front of herself neatly, her interest piqued. At least she didn't have to say more herself.] That would explain things, but...what do you mean exactly? Where are you from?

I'm from Japan, on Earth, but another version of it. There's lots of other people from Japan here, but I don't think there's anyone who's from the same one as me. [Besides Misato, of course.] No one else knows what I'm talking about when I mention those things, but our Japans are still similar. If that makes sense.

No, I think I know what you're talking about. You're talking about the Multiverse Theory, aren't you? There's the observable universe, of course, but some theorize that there are many others as well, one universe for each possible type of existence. Have you heard of it?

No, I haven't. I mean, it wasn't really something we talked about back home. [Which isn't to say the theory didn't exist, just that he lived a sort of sheltered life.] But it sounds like it explains this pretty well.

It's...it's certainly possible. What do you mean by "this," though? Can you tell me anything more about what's going on?

Well, I mean, it would explain why a place like Luceti can exist, too. I don't know of anyone who's heard of it before coming here, but there's a world outside of this place where people do know about it.

I don't really know a whole lot about what's going on, though. They really don't tell us much.
